Fergie's Vinegar Shots to Stay Fit
Date: 04/10/2008 1:48 AM / Category: Beauty
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) In the latest issue of Glamour Magazine, Fergie reveals one of her secrets to staying fit:”I do vinegar shots. It has to be organic apple cider, unfiltered.” She says she takes 2 tablespoons of the stuff as directed by her trainer, who claims it “flushes out the fats in the colon”. I’m no nutritionist but the only weight your going to lose from vinegar shots is the weight you throw up after taking them. A bit earlier in the Glamour interview Fergie says how the night before the Glamour shoot, she discovered “cupcakes with green frosting and shredded coconut” and “we bought eight of them”. I really hope people don’t take this vinegar shots to lose weight thing too seriously. But everyone loves a quick fix and I’m sure there are thousands of people trying it. Oi vey. View Entry

It's an intersting story how the product came into existence. The inventor had a long career as a makeup artist in various high-end retail stores. She continually heard stories from her clients about the troubles they had reproducing her looks she had shown them. While experimenting in her kitchen for over 10 years and with the help of her husband, a PhD in chemistry, she came up with a viable mineral based formula and applicator. This is how ColorOn was born. The company collaborates with a network of working makeup artists to keep their product lines up-to-date with the latest makeup trends we see on fashion runways, magazines, and stree-level trends.

For Whom Do Women Dress?
Date: 02/13/2008 6:39 PM / Category:
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) Here were a few of the answers Rosemary Feitelberg of Womens Wear Daily found while querying top designers about who women dress for: Anne Hathaway "Most men don’t realize what’s going on half the time. If their friend at work wears the same thing every day, they wouldn’t notice. It’s not in the gene pool." — Nigel Barker, photographer "Women dress for men. I do dress for myself because it makes me feel empowered, but I'm definitely looking for [husband] Rubin's expression, not his approval. I do use clothes to speak — how I dress is a form of communication for me."Michael Fink, vice president and women's fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue "I hope women dress for themselves and not out of pressure to mimic someone or to be something they're not. They're also dressing for the special someone in one's life, but I don't think that's every day." French Vogue's Carine Roitfeld "I don't know for everyone else. For me, it's for myself. When you feel good about yourself, you feel good about everyone else." David Wolfe, a creative director at the Doneger Group "In a work environment, they dress for each other because it is so highly competitive and it has to be. For social occasions, they dress for men to try to eliminate any female competition, but not in an obvious sexual way. It's tricky because overt sexuality doesn't work and it doesn't get them anywhere with other women. Another factor is at the designer price level, men are often paying for the clothes, so women need their approval. But men who have trophy wives want the trophy wives to have the latest, hottest things. Its a complicated thing."

Fashion Institute of Design Management

Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) How do you think it would feel to be a fashion designer? I know that it would be a lot of girls' dreams to attend fashion school, so I thought I'd write a quick note about my trip yesterday to the Fashion Institute of Design Management (FIDM). FIDM is in the heart of downtown LA, just around the corner from the fashion district as well as the downtown skyscrapers. Security is tight around the school - apparently many of the downtown residents (residents) would also like to enter and attend the fashion school. A friend of mine is considering attending and she wanted me to come with her to check out the campus. With the base tuition of $24,000 a year, I wanted to see what this school had to We began our FIDM mission by being escorted up to a classy airplane terminal like lobby where the receptionist had us fill out an admission packet. All the school advisors were in a meeting so we waited for 30 min or so and were eventually met my the director of admissions. She was a peppy skinny blonde that clearly had been in the fashion business. Our time spent with her felt a bit like a pscyhotherapy session. The director was asking my friend various questions, rephriasing her words, and then going on to describe in great detail the types of creative things my friend was into, in an effort to pinpoint which major would be the best fit. My friend was originally interested in fashion design, but after she learned that designers spend their days on the tiny details and intracasies of how to attach a button, my friend and the counselor realized that wouldn't be the best fit. Apparently she was a better fit for Visual Communications, a major that appears to offer a wide array of fashion related classes. After 45 min of speaking with her, we were rushed out to the 2:15pm tour of the campus. While my friend is 27, we found ourselves grouped with two good looking and fashioned out 18 year olds and their parents. As we began the campus tour we saw more of the same. We entered into another building which had 5 classrooms, but they had glass dividers so we were able to see into each class. The people in the first class were in depp focus, concentraing on the sewing machines in front of them and slowly moving their fabric. The next class was full of maniquins which were partially clothed with half finished designs. Other classes were doing more or less the same types of things. The computer room and study area for the students had a quiet yet cool atmosphere and even made me feel like hanging out there to study! Computers were on 2ft tall tables, which the students worked on while sitting on their own little circular cushion. Apparently being hunched over for hours on end in an uncomfortable position is better for studying then being in a comfortable chair which one might use instead to fall asleep. We had to take off from the tour early because our car was parked on a street that had to be vacated by 3pm to open up the lanes for the nightly commute. So yah, theres another 200 dollars a month in parking expenses if you want to commute to school. Going to school here would pretty much be a dream come true for the girl interested in purusing a career in fashion. The school has many successful alumni that have started their own business's and fashion lines, as well as alumni that hold top posts as world renowned fashion houses. Only drawback is 24k in tuition plus another 15k for housing and other expenses. Best idea is to go pitch mom and dad on the idea or to find Mr. Right who might be generous enough to foot the bill for you.

What this Microdermabrasion Business All About
Date: 02/08/2008 5:46 PM / Category:
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) You’ve probably heard of microdermabrasion, but if you were like me you probably didn’t know what it was all about. I looked it up online and decided to share with you a bit of what I learned. Basically, microdermabrasion is a process for removing the layer of dead skin found on the outermost surface of your skin. An esthetician uses a small wand to buff the surface of your skin, while vacuuming up the dead skin follicles that come loose in the process. The esthetician will make one or two passes over any single part of your skin. The tip of the wand feels like sandpaper but it is actually made of diamonds, and the level of roughness use is determined by the sensitivity of patients’ skin! The most common places to have microdermabrasion performed are on the face, chest, neck, arms or hands. The process supposedly cleans out pores and will give you a fresh looking glow for a few weeks. The procedure can take anywhere from ten minutes to half an hour to complete, and can be performed as often as once every few weeks. View Entry

Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) We've got a few more months until the theatrical release of the Sex and the City movie, but after seeing some pictures of Carrie's outfits I new I had to write about it. We all know that Sex and the City set off many fashion trends worldwide, with viewers clamoring to get their hands on items the girls were wearing. And with the show no longer on, there have been some other TV shows that have been looking to fill it's spot. With that in mind, the producers of the Sex and the City film new they were going to have to push the limits on Carrie and the girls' outfits. And man did they push the limits! Many of Carries outfits look a bit over the top, and definetely not the type of thing most viewers are going to want to watch. Check it out: View Entry

Valentines Day Fashion Tips
Date: 01/28/2008 3:32 PM / Category:
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) Valentines Day is right around the corner so I've come up with some fashion tips to get you going. The little black dress is always a winner but if you want a spicer attention grabbing look then make it red, which is looked upon as the color of love and passion. You will stand out in a room where everyone else is wearing little black dresses. Keep the outfit traditional but add a few accessories to give it a special touch. For example, turn a hot necklace into a belt, wear some awesome shoes and carry an over-the-top purse. Make it your own outfit, not the designer’s! On a more casual date, consider wearing a sexy low-cut top of a feminine color and wear the most flattering jeans you can find. Finish the look with some classy black pumps No one will be able to resist staring at this fabulous you! Couple it with a fashion concious handbag and a cool pair of sunglasses.
