Political Fashion
Date: 10/13/2008 2:03 PM / Category: Fashion
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) Things are heating up in the presidential race and it's cooling down outside so if you're politically minded and want to show your support anyway you can, then these understated scarves from Echo should get your vote (har har). They are cotton and light-weight so they are great for layering and I love how the patterns are subtle about your political leanings. I really like the pattern for the Republican scarf which, as a registered Democrat, goes to show I can be bipartisan when it comes to fashion. View Entry
Lotion in the Shower, Duh!

We've come across this ad in several magazines here at Latest Beauty headquarters and totally thought that Vitamin Water was now in the shampoo business. We've been had! And Vitamin Water is not happy about it. According to Fashionista, they have nothing to do with this product and are in the process of suing. Interesting enough, if you go to VitaminShampoo.com, they have already changed the look of the bottles, but not by much....fishy! Have you tried this shampoo out yet, under the guise that Vitamin Water was producing it? I was planning on checking it out but it's kind of lost its appeal. What do you think? View Entry
UPDATE: Anya Hindmarch for Target
Date: 10/10/2008 1:36 PM / Category: Fashion, Internet
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) This was an interesting read on The Cut today: Anya Hindmarch for Target's collection went on sale online on Wednesday and sold out in two minutes. I was quite surprised to hear this, especially since you guys (myself included) weren't too impressed with the line. Even more so because these bags tend to look much different in person than online. The collection becomes available in stores on 10/12 so I'll wait to check them out then. I'm interested to see what this clutch looks like in person. It looks classic and pretty in this picture...but I've been burned by Target's designer bags before. I'll keep you posted on my in-person impressions. {poll id="271"}

Boot-iful
Date: 10/10/2008 1:14 PM / Category: Fashion
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) You guys! It's cooled down here in LA! It is cool enough that I had to wear a scarf whilst cycling to Latest Beauty headquarters today. So I'm pretty excited that it's not 100 degrees out anymore and while it's probably not cool enough to wear these awesome boots yet, I've got my eye on these beauties. I love the wedge. I love the fold-over with buckle. I love that they are stylish and yet classic all at once, lending to their versatility. I love that they are suede. And while $169 is a little much for my budget right now with the stock market crumbling all around us, they are Nine West plus they are on Piperlime, which means the likelihood of sales surrounding this boot is good. So I think I'll have to place a sale alert on it so I can track it and get them when a deal strikes.

Moccasins with a twist
Date: 10/08/2008 3:45 PM / Category: Fashion
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) So I am a lot a bit in love with these moccasins from American Eagle. The shearling that coats in the insides looks so cozy and warm that I'm not sure I would ever want to take them off. The outer suede is silver - silver! I'm not sure I've ever seen that in a moc. The style is classic which means I could get a lot of wear out of them. And the soles are rubber, which is always a bonus for my clumsy self. I need a shoe with some traction! They have these in browns and black and even pink, but the silver has stolen my heart. And at $29, these fit into the budget. Holla! {poll id="270"} View Entry
SALE ALERT: J.Crew Matchstick Jeans
Date: 10/08/2008 2:42 PM / Category: Fashion
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) If you're a fan of J.Crew's matchstick jean, like I am, then today is your lucky day. They have three colors on sale, including the featured Honey Glaze shade, starting at $29.99 - down from $88. I love the bright color of the matchstick and their skinny silouhette - perfect for pairing with boots, shooties, flats and heels - so, basically, anything. The color pumps up any look and I love how they've styled them in their catalogues with muted silvers and greys. They even have a grey pair if you want to be less loud with your matchsticks. Certain sizes are already sold out, so get over there quickly to claim your pair! View Entry
Currently Coveting: Rock-n-Roll Fleece
Date: 10/07/2008 3:04 PM / Category: Fashion
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) Can you tell I'm wishing for cooler weather? For you lucky ducks that already are experiencing fall, I bring you the jacket that I'm currently coveting: I'm a big fan of zippers. I'm a big fan of asymetrical zippers. I am a big fan of looking pulled together. I am a big fan of comfort. And all that fan-age comes together in this jacket. Would you believe me if I told you this jacket is fleece? Well...you better believe it because this is fleece, which means cozy and comfortable, but I've never seen fleece looking so chic. When I think fleece I think "oversized, ill-fitting, around-the-house-only," kind of stuff, not leather-bomber-jacket-esque. I'm getting it. Even if it is 90 degrees out.

Shopping Story
Date: 10/07/2008 2:23 PM / Category: Fashion, Personal
Rating: 0.0/10.0 (0 votes) Hello, Latest Beauty-iers! I have been absent from the blog these past few days because my mom and friend were visiting. It was so great spending time with my mama! We had a lot of fun and I have to share this shopping story with you. The three of us ladies took a trip up to Santa Barbara for a day and did some shopping on State Street. We happened upon an Anthropologie and found these awesome Sidewinder flats. They were on sale for $39 (originally $78), so needless to say we ALL got a pair. They are super comfy and go with everything. The story doesn't end there though! Once back in LA we waltzed into the Anthropologie at The Grove and happened upon the same flats we already bought. Curious, my mom turned over the flat to see if they were on sale there as well. Imagine her (and our) shock when the ticket price said $118!! Yowza!! How crazy is that?? The shoes not being on sale wasn't such a surprise, but the fact that they had been obscenely marked up from the original price (the $78 price that is even listed on the website) was quite surprising. Our $39 purchase suddenly seemed like quite the steal. Lesson learned? It pays to shop around! {poll id="266"} View Entry
