Sometime's I feel depressed because I wanna dress up and get all girly...but I have bad acne and that just ruins my self-image. Does anyone suffer from this and know some good products?

i know just how you feel, lushious_girl! i've been breaking out since i was 12 years old. :(

for me, washing my face with dove soap and putting on a cream prescribed by my derm (can't remember the name) have REALLY helped. some people think soap is too drying tho. have you seen a dermatologist? they can be very helpful.

The dermatologist said he can't help me...I dunno...proactive doesn't work. I just look and the mirror and say 'you're beautiful' and start my day :) Still would like to find a good product though :(

i had the same problem for years!  it sucked.  i tried proactive too but it never worked for me.  i did some research a while back and acne is an internal issue.

your have to keep your body healthy.  your skin is pretty much the largest organ on your body.  those of us with sensitive skin suffer the most when we poison our bodies with processed food and other unhealthy foods.

it does take a lot of discipline and patience to get results but your body will thank you for it!  it may take several weeks to see results but it does work.

here's the site that i did my research on...  it has a ton of info and tells  you how to get rid of your acne step by step.

just a note... some of these steps can be kinda gross and annoying,  (colon cleansing!) but they are necessary.

hope that helps!

i was also going to ask what kind of makeup you use, lushious_girl. my skin was a lot worse before i started using minerals. i'm just using stuff from the drugstore right now, but i really want to try bare escentuals now. it coudl make a huge difference!

I use MAC Cosmetics. I don't know about bare minerals because I like to add a lot of color. Plus I need a thick makeup to cover the spots I already have and I don't think Bare Minerals could cover all this :(

1 Word: Accutane - this stuff is toxic but get's rid of acne pretty much gauranteed. It's tough on your liver and can mess with your body that it is mandatory to get monthly blood checks to ensure your body is doing fine.

The positive? It absolutely gets rid of acne where pretty much all other solutions aren't that effective. All other prescriptions given my dermatologits pale in comparison to the effectiveness of accutane. If your insurance doesn't cover accutane then you will be out about $600/month - no kidding. Of course with insurance you can get it for about $25/month.

I believe the benefits far outweigh the negative side effects. Acne can seriously lower a persons self esteem which can have a lasting impact.

Get on Accutane. Your life will be turned around.

I don't have personal experience with Accutane, but I've had a lot of close friends who took it, and it did them wonders.

One negative side effect of Accutane: depression.  If you're generally an unhappy person, you should definitely stay away.  Having lots of friends help.

If you do decide on Accutane, it will make your body feel dehydrated all day, so drink lots of water!!!

I agree about Accutane. If your acne is a serious, chronic problem, GO FOR IT. Another side effect to be aware of is dry lips - they'll peel and get all nasty if you don't keep piling on the lip balm. My dermatologist gave me Aquaphor for my lips back when I was on Accutane and it wasn't a problem after that.

I have suffered from acne for quite a while too and have found that the best method is to just use a simple face wash and drink LOTS of water. I personally use Cetaphil Face Cleanser. I have experimented with a bunch of other "acne treatment scrubs" and while they do work for about a week, after that my skin breaks out like crazy! Give Cetaphil a try!
