Get fit, get walking

I'm going to just put it out there: I don't like the gym. It seems like a chore and I am always making up excuses to avoid it. But I have to stay in shape and I have to stay healthy. So I've been looking for alternatives. While doing the short drive to work yesterday I realized that it is really a short drive - 2 miles! I could walk that, no prob. So that is what I did today. I walked to work. It took me about 40 minutes, which is 30 minutes longer than my normal commute. But. I would have to get up earlier to get to the gym and spend the same amount of time there. So it makes sense to me. There are sidewalks and crosswalks all along the way, so it's safe. And sure, I feel a little like an alien WALKING in LA, but it's a good form of exercise and it's my little way to "go green". Walking back home later today will be the true test though: it will be another two miles. If it's not bad, I'm going to keep doing it. I'll let you know tomorrow how it goes....

So that is my beauty tip today: Walk when you can. Even if it's parking at the back of the grocery store parking lot. Every little bit can make a difference. Anti-gym but pro-fitness, that's me!

I agree, every little bit of movement helps.  I used to live about 6 miles from school, and walking would've taken way too long.  I suggest riding a bike for cases further than 2 miles.  The only drawback is that you can't wear a skirt (short or long - trust me, you don't want to end up at your destination in your undies and a bike with a tangled chain :), or put on make-up while you drive (well, in this case, ride)... hehe
