You’ve probably heard of microdermabrasion, but if you were like me you probably didn’t know what it was all about. I looked it up online and decided to share with you a bit of what I learned.
Basically, microdermabrasion is a process for removing the layer of dead skin found on the outermost surface of your skin. An esthetician uses a small wand to buff the surface of your skin, while vacuuming up the dead skin follicles that come loose in the process. The esthetician will make one or two passes over any single part of your skin. The tip of the wand feels like sandpaper but it is actually made of diamonds, and the level of roughness use is determined by the sensitivity of patients’ skin! The most common places to have microdermabrasion performed are on the face, chest, neck, arms or hands.
The process supposedly cleans out pores and will give you a fresh looking glow for a few weeks. The procedure can take anywhere from ten minutes to half an hour to complete, and can be performed as often as once every few weeks.
