Everywhere I look I keep seeing tie-dye: dresses, scarfs, bags - even shoes. I know what you're thinking: Tie-dye?! You can't get much more dated than that! But modern tie-dyed pieces, usually referred to as ombré, are more subtle, less psychedelic. The gentle gradations of color fade into each other, creating a look that's much easier to wear than the flamboyant '60s take on tie-dye.

If you're looking to take this trend for a test drive, you have your work cut out for you - there are lots of options at any number of retailers. But why not take this opportunity to indulge in a little DIY fashion and make your own? Grab a bottle of dye, some rubberbands and a cheap white dress, shirt or scarf and check out designer Gregory Parkinson's step-by-step
guide to DIY tie-dye, complete with photo gallery. It's not often that a fashion trend comes along that's so easy to duplicate at home - give it a try!
